Company History
Founder and owner, Charmaine McKenzie established CAMY’s Caribbean Mart & Eatery in 2022. Charmaine is the daughter of Jamaican born immigrants who migrated to Northeastern Ohio in the 1970s. As a young lady growing up in Cleveland Charmaine was afforded the opportunity to be exposed to Jamaican culture. Charmaine has travelled to Jamaica frequently with family and friends where she was able to enjoy island life.
Charmaine attended college in Washington, DC where she was able to meet and interact with a culturally diverse body of students. She has a background in Healthcare and Information Technology. Charmaine brings her educational experience, cultural background and love for food together to bring the best authentic Caribbean experience to the city of Cleveland.
Charmaine desires to bring a piece of her heritage to Cleveland. She knows that there are a lot of people who love Caribbean food; she wishes to appease these individuals and give them that authentic experience when they patronize CAMY’s Caribbean Mart & Eatery. She has grown up on the delicious Jamaican dishes prepared by her mother who used recipes that were passed down from her mother. Charmaine is excited to be able to offer these dishes to the community so that everyone can enjoy a Jamaican meal as she did growing up; or the ambitious ones can grab the ingredients from the grocery store and prepare the meal themselves at home.
